Olde Fashioned Christmas in Los Olivos
First Saturday in December (Saturday, December 6th 2008)

You are invited to attend Los Olivos’ “Olde Fashioned Christmas.” Held on December 6th, this event sponsored by the Los Olivos Business Organization, recreates some of the atmosphere of a Victorian Christmas.


May 1 to May 31, 2008 "Colorfields", oils by B.J. Stapen Gallery Los Olivos presents "Colorfields" - impressionistic landscape oil paintings by Artist B.J. Stapen. Artist Reception: Saturday, May 3rd, at the Gallery from 1 - 4 pm. Artist B.J. Stapen brings the coast, vineyards, and mountains of Santa Barbara County to life through the use of vibrant color in her landscape oil paintings. For this exhibit, Stapen has simplified her style to accentuate the broad expanse of colors of the Santa Ynez Valley and Central Coast. As BJ states, “I wanted to exaggerate the play of color and pattern, at times flattening the perspective while emphasizing the surface.” An accomplished plein air painter since she was a child, BJ holds advanced degrees in art and design, and has won numerous juried awards. BJ’s love for the natural beauty of the Central Coast is reflected through her impressionistic use of patterns, shapes and colors, and she is drawn to the way light dances on our landscape during different seasons of the year. Quick Draw Third Saturday in August (Saturday, August 16th 2008) Set in the heart of the old stagecoach route, amidst premier wine country and fine art galleries, is the small town charm of Los Olivos. Each year this historic community is host to the annual Quick Draw! Does it sound like a scene right out of the Old West? The image is close, but imagine instead the flash of paint, brushes, pencil, pastel, or molding of clay. Add the element of a 45-minute time frame for completion, and a live auction at high noon, this is Quick Draw! The Los Olivos Gallery Organization will host the 22nd Annual Los Olivos Quick Draw. Participating galleries included: Details, Gallery Los Olivos, Judith Hale Gallery & Judith Hale Gallery South, Sansone Studios, Wilding Art Museum, & Young’s Gallery. Spectators won't want to miss a moment of this fast paced creative challenge. The day begins with an introduction of the artists, and then Quick Draw. The Quick Draw immediately is followed by a live Auction. Other Quick Draw events include a silent auction, a BBQ in the park and Artist Demonstrations. Olde Fashioned Christmas in Los Olivos First Saturday in December (Saturday, December 6th 2008) You are invited to attend Los Olivos’ “Olde Fashioned Christmas.” Held on December 6th, this event sponsored by the Los Olivos Business Organization, recreates some of the atmosphere of a Victorian Christmas. Revive childhood excitement on the quaint streets of Los Olivos as we celebrate Olde Fashioned Christmas. The streets will be adorned with luminaries and the smell of popcorn and roasted walnuts wafting through the evening air. Local merchants will welcome guests with open house events and refreshments. Olde Fashioned Christmas is a romantic return to small town holiday celebration. Last year's Olde Fashioned Christmas featured musical performances from our talented adults and students from the valley with both wind and choral performances. Other special events included: Christmas carols sing-a-long in the park, enjoying fresh popcorn and roasted walnuts, Santa arriving in a horse drawn carriage and the annual tree lighting ceremony by the Los Olivos flagpole.
